Andrius, a recent Lithuanian immigrant, is young, ambitious, and eager to prove himself in America. He has been drifting from place to place in search of the better life that he expected. Tired of going nowhere, he accepts a job driving contraband to California, where he plans to start a new life with his brother, Matas. 

Having not seen each other in almost a decade, the brothers struggle to reconnect; memories of their past and years of separation have created a large barrier.  
However, as the two celebrate their own little version of a traditional Lithuanian Christmas, Andrius begins to question his own misguided goals and ambitions. Unfortunately, the truck full of contraband brings unexpected results, interrupting Andrius' reconciliation with his family and his past. 

He begins to understand that the root of his problems lies in what he left, not where he is going.
